Jet Sports heat transfer printing instructions

Many in the textile printing industry, newcomers especially, have yet to learn of and embrace a best practice for heat transfer printing. We therefore present a step-by-step guide that will enable you to optimize your work.

This process will give you sterling, time-efficient results. Enjoy.

What conditions should I be aware of before placing my print order?

Look at your clothing/fabric piece and evaluate the surface area available for printing. Determine which colors will best fit your wanted design. Look to make the contrast between the fabric and the print as large as possible. Light logo designs on dark fabrics, and dark logo designs on light fabrics yield the best results. Avoid ordering large prints for thin fabrics like t-shirts or linen, as such prints will often become heavy and irritate the skin.

What should I do before printing?

Your pre-printing routine should look as follows:

  • Inspect the contents of your delivery and compare them against the proof or the invoice. Ensure you have received the correct motif with the right colors, size, and amount. In case of discrepancies, get in touch with our customer service team before printing.
  • Unpack the clothes/fabric pieces, setting aside those you want to print on.
  • Decide where on the clothes you want to apply the transfer.
  • Find and prepare somewhere to place the clothing/fabric pieces after application.
  • Inspect your printing machine to ensure correct settings for temperature, time, and print values.
  • Set the laser or create a template with the placement’s measures.
  • Pre-heat the lower platen for 15-20 seconds to ensure consistent results.
  • Perform a test print. Make sure the routine is smooth and easy, the machine settings are correct, and the printed product meets your or your customer’s expectations.

I’m ready to print. How do I ensure a best practice process?

  • Ensure the printing machine’s settings are correct. The printing instructions for your exact order are found on back of the packaging. Generic application settings are found on our products sheets on jetsport.dk.
  • Depending on the transfer you want to apply, switching the lower platen to one of a better-fitting size can be recommended. The same can be recommended when the transfer is to be applied near a seam or a zipper.
  • For small platens, a pressure of 2 to 3 bar is enough. For large platens, 5 to 6 bar.
  • Place the clothing/fabric piece on the platen.
  • Pre-heat the clothing/fabric piece for about five seconds to shrink it and prevent potential problems. This is especially recommended with tight weaves or impregnated fabric.
  • Place the transfer on the clothing/fabric piece where it is to be applied and print it.
  • If printing multiple prints, prepare the next clothing/fabric piece while the upper platen is lowered. When the platen is raised after application, you are already ready for the next print.
  • Remove the transfer film after application. All Jet Sport’s transfer films can be removed immediately following application while the print is still hot.
  • Ensure the glue has melted. If it has not melted, determine whether the machine’s settings were correct and perform the application a few seconds longer.

Summary:

  • Compare the delivery against your invoice.
  • Ensure the printing machine’s settings are correct.
  • Perform the print.
  • Remove the film.
  • Ensure the glue has melted.
